Worst Summer of My Life

Just few hours before i return to Guwahati, as i look back now at the three months in the summer of 2010 all i can say to sum it up in one word is "Disastrous".

Little that i knew when i left Guwahati in May that i was heading for the worst summer till date......i would have rather stayed there or gone somewhere else.......Why the hell did i come here!! ??

Here we go,

*18th May,2010: I got my 4th sem results,the lowest ever S.P.I. for me 6.68...which took my C.P.I. down to 7.29,i thought more bad news can't be there.

*24th May,2010: Slammed!! my laptop's lid in anger which later cost me 6000 bucks to fix the lcd and corrupted 100 gb of my hard disk.

*3rd June,2010:My optical mouse which had been with me for two years breathed it's last.

*24th June,2010:My internship at NALCO got cancelled bcoz the person who was to supervise my project his father died n he went out of station for weeks.....so i had to do a makeshift intern at my father's bank.

*8th July,2010:My 1 TB external disk started showing I/O error n data recovery would have cost me thousands so i had to let go of 570 GB of my movies collection n all other data on it.I was heartbroken.

*19th July,2010:My Laptop got infected with a deadly virus...n i had to format it losing all and the only data i had left with me.

*23rd July,2010:My Laptop's battery has started showing some problem,it won't charge when system is on but charges itself when the laptop is off.

There were very few high points for me during this summer lyk my school reunion,whenever i used to hangout with my friends and went to see movies (Lamhaa was one of them!!) or go play pool..........at times i felt like killing myself and let go of the pain of constant disappointments.

I so dearly hope like i have never hoped before that this coming sem at IIT will cheer me up and show me some good times....I really need it... :)

The 4th Sem

Today,when i woke up after a good afternoon nap i got a amazing feeling in my head...it felt so light......Yes! the endsems were over and so was my sophomore year at IITG .I'm now halfway through my journey at IIT...which has been a wonderful experience till now,with moments that will last the length of time.It felt so good,waking up realising that i don't have to mug now continuosly for 12-13 hours bearing immense pressure.......this past week has taken a toll on my body and mind...sleeping hardly for 3-4 hours daily.Then there is the excitement of going back HOME...the place we all wanna be.This sem at IITG has rather been surprising for me basically on academic levels....my S.P.I. is goin down for sizzle...baby!!
Talking about other remarkable events of this sem....one person stands out in my mind and that is Dharmesh Yelande(D Sir as we call him).....he was a contestant on Zee Tv's show Dance India Dance..but man can he dance...he simply blew me away and further enhanced my interest in dance.I was heartbroken when he didn't win (Curse you Shakti!!),but still a big fan of D Sir.This year's Alcheringa was also off the hook..with performances by Shankar Ehsaan Loy,Eluveitie n Vir Das etc.This sem my entertainment focus shifted from movies to soaps.....i watched a loads of dem.....including classics like LOST,Prison Break,Grey's Anatomy and bone-tickling comedy like According to Jim.My efforts for seeking a foreign internship went in vain.....as i gave up hope early....n finally settled for doing an internship in U.B.I. at home.
As far as my subjects go,Probability and Real 'Anal'-ysis were the toughest and expecting the lowest grades in dem.
Now, i have so much to look upto,,,,,my junior year at IIT,the 5th sem will be full of ups and downs as CS guyzz are already prepared to rape us.Hoping to get my passport done in the summer and a good time at home...enjoying wid my friends the summer heat of Orissa err correction "Odisa" yeah that's what they are calling it now.Finally, i would like mention Anurag Panwar..who has been with me throughout the sem and is a true and dear friend.Hoping to raise my C.P.I. in coming sems so that i can get a job......!! :)

"TIME" & "LIFE"....

I woke up suddenly in the middle of the night....so I'm here expressing myself.

I wanted to write something....something that would make everyone "THINK"...but then i thought what better than "LIFE".Life is so mesmerizing,we meet new people....we befriend them..bond with them knowing that we would part with each other sometime in the distant future.Yet we allow ourselves to be played by "TIME",even if the joys are transient but we still try to enjoy each n every moment of "LIFE".

It gives me the jitters thinking about "LIFE" after 4 years here, how we made the transition from school to college leaving our childhood friends behind embarking upon a new journey...a new phase in our lives( IIT ).But letting it go,letting your friends go is never easy and it would never be...this is something i feel dearly. Imagine that after a short period of "TIME"...we would move on with our lives...each heading in a different direction to new dimensions of his/her unexplored "LIFE".Oh! i would really miss each and every person i have ever met here,each and every moment spent laughing,each and every moment spent crying,each and every moment spent thinking about "LIFE".

I guess "TIME" and "LIFE" are the zenith of human existence that we will never be able to understand.

After a long Time...

Finally i got some spare time..phewwww! These past days have been on and off like anything...Post midsems i dozed off my days and nights..Then came Manthan-The God of all Competitions.Our Hostel (Manas) gave a very good fight despite very few facchas,but we came in second to Kameng (Damn u!!) while Kapili n Dihing celebrated their 3rd and 4th position like anything..lol...Subansiri was 5th as usual and the "Only words-NO Action Hostel"-> Umiam was last.No one counts Barak n Siang as hostels.
After the disappointment in Manthan came the debacle in MA201 quiz...I screwed it up again!! Can u believe that?? Actually anyone would if they had seen my preparation for the quiz. Skipping past it we had our Departmental freshers with a lot of fuss between Btech. and Msc. , the food wasn't up to the mark thanks!! to Palash n Pondy bhaiya.Enlightening me from my damped spirits was Diwali,i had a lot of fun this time with the Hagga Dj! n Fireworks although i missed my home a lot, specially my mom.Then things got ugly between Nikhil n Arun on diwali night due to Arun's stupidity n Nikhil's lack of humour.
An amazing thing happened yesterday ...our Discrete Maths quiz first got postponed n then canceled due to France Day celebrations. Due to lack of enthusiasm among IIT students,nobody turned up for the event..we were used like crowd.. fed with booze and meat at a political rally,to save our IIT from embaressment.I was fine with it as i hadn't prepared well.Now i have to think about internships/projects and shit...i have to choose my "field of interest"..n make my C.V. pump it up a little bit.I'm starting to miss my home n feel like running away from all this.....................................

Horrible Midsems....

This past week..starting Sunday have been awful days for me...long night-outs bearing no substantial results for me....Specially today's paper on Matrix computations was horrible...i never did so bad in an exam...I'm angry on myself for not studying regularly....if only i did it..things would have been different.The only papers in which i did marginally well were discrete n culture.
My resolution to get a 8 C.P.I. by the end of this sem seems difficult now...after screwing up my midsems .This last exam has killed all the joys of exam getting over....i can't celebrate to anything.Now,I can only hope to do well in my endsems..to savour my grades.
